I’ve just got rid of the “comment count” that used to sit under the article header. It felt good. Comment counts are fluff – the only real piece of meta information I ever want or need to know is the article’s publication date – but perhaps that’s just me?

You’re right. Most often they don’t add anything. Maybe an excuse to be able to add another icon (little speech bubble) to the post design ;)
