Lunch Hour fun
I really like arc90’s idea of displaying thumbnail previews for external links – I also really like the fade effect and unobtrusive goodness of Dustin Diaz’s sweet titles so, in a true mashup tradition, I’ve taken the best from both scripts and created an unobtrusive hybrid monster.
The script was written during my lunch hour and has been tested only on FireFox – so please don’t blame me or finger point should things not run smoothly in your browser of choice.
Additionally, the thumbnails are created using a service from webdesignbook and not using MSN as was originally the case. This means that they may take slightly longer to load (which is why I’ve included the loading indicator) than in the arc90 demo.
As stated previously, please don’t take this seriously – it’s a lunch hour experiment after all.

It’s Dustin Diaz actually :). The script works quite nicely, I like it. It also works quite nicely on all the browsers I have at my disposal at the moment (Opera 9, IE 6, and Firefox 1.5)
@ Dylan: Thanks for the “Dunstan” warning! I’ve changed the details accordingly. It’s also good (but astounding) to hear that the script runs in other browsers.
Regards,
Brian.
Yeah… who is “Dustan?” Nonetheless, very nice work during your lunch time :)
@ Dustin: Shit, how many times can I spell your name incorrectly? Apologies all round – It (most probably) won’t happen again!
Regards,
Brian
